About Bob Renis..

Like a lot of great cue-makers, Bob Renis started out with a love of the game. Not only did he love the game, he was also pretty good at it. In 1946, he played a lot of nine ball, and won enough money to buy a car. He eventually turned to billiards, but didn't want to give up using his 'snooker' cue. Nothing on the mass market suited his needs, and thus began his journey into the art of cue-making. His goal--a slender cue that would give him the precision and accuracy of a snooker cue, and the power and strength of a pool cue. Bob Renis didn't just achieve his goal, he surpassed it. Not only did he produce a superior cue, but it looked great too.
Renis made his first commissioned cue in 1976. Until then, he had made cues as a hobby, and had given them to friends and acquaintances. When he learned that his favorite entertainer, Jackie Gleason, had been hospitalized from a heart attack, Renis made one of his cues and sent it to the comedian. Soon afterward, he received a phone call at his home. It was Jackie Gleason, calling to tell Renis that he loved the cue and he wanted two more. Bob Renis made the cues and sent them to Gleason. Another call came in. Gleason had gotten the cues and wanted another, but this time he wanted something really special. Bob Renis pondered the request, then went to work. The result was a beautiful cue, fancier than any he had made before, with Gleason's name and the phrase "How Sweet It Is" inscribed on it. Today, Renis proudly displays the letter he received from Gleason after sending him the cue in a frame that hangs in his home. It reads, simply, "I got the cue, and it fits."
Since then, Renis has made and sold many cues, becoming renown on the West and East coasts for his fine workmanship. "It's therapeutic for me." says Renis, who makes his cues while listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio. He recalls that a famous trick shot player once called him to a meeting in Vegas. The player was so impressed with Renis’ cues that he wanted a "truckload" of them to endorse and sell. Renis was flattered but turned down the offer. He was supplying to several San Diego shops and didn't want to disappoint them. That's just how Bob Renis is--a humble man with an extraordinary talent in the world of pool, as well as in woodworking.

About "Bob" Cues...

ONE OF A KIND Cues..... BY Bob Renis.
WARNING
"These cues are addictive. People have been known to use them for years without any desire to shoot with some other brand cue."
'BOB' has been hand crafting his cues on the most primitive machinery imaginable for over thirty years, yet has no formal education in the operation of that machinery. Now that we have your confidence you'll be happy to learn that he is a better than average pool player (his opinion) and he likes a cue that feels comfortable yet has the"guts" to get the job done
Custom built to your specifications,'Bob' Cues are made from wood that is dyed and laminated, then glued and bonded with phenolic resin. This process makes these cues unbelievably strong. Unlike mass produced cues, which can be turned out in about ten seconds, Bobcues are hand-turned on a lathe for hours to achieve the quality you expect.

-- Wood to wood joints with brass inserts are used for a
    solid hit.
-- Custom inlays of tropical wood and/or dense plastics
can make your cue as individual as you are.
-- Butt-cues are available with the traditional smooth butt,
or with a unique “carved” butt.
-- Inlays of tropical wood or dense plastic.
-- Shaft- available in 10, 11, or 12mm.
-- Wood to wood joints with brass inserts.
-- Ferrule- available in black, brown, white, or ivry.

About BobCue Materials...

Unlike mass produced cues, which can be turned out in about ten seconds, 'Bob'Cues are hand-turned on a lathe for hours to achieve the quality you expect. In order to produce such a strong cue, the wood that is used must be substantially more rigid than the maple used in conventional cues. The woods used in 'BOB' Cues are beech and birch (both very rigid) which are dyed to produce unusual colors and then laminated using phenolic resin as both the the bonding and impregnating agent. Because the wood is saturated with phenolic resin, these cues are unbelievably strong, and requires no finish to protect it from misuse or the elements.
'BOB' Cues are made to last a lifetime with decent care.
